Luxor

The present – day town lies 400 miles south of Cairo , on the site of ancient Thebes . There is no city in the world that possesses such a vast number of ancient monuments which historian caaim , account for one third of the historic relics and ruins of the past.

Main Sightseeing Attraction

- Luxor Temple

The temple was uncovered by accident less than a century ago and took two years to excavate and unearth it . The main pylon has relief’s that celebrate the victory of Ramses II over the Hittites . One of the two obelisks erected for this jubilee remains , while the other is in the “ Place de la Concorde “ at Paris.

- Karnak Temple

Once connected with Luxor Temple by a great avenue of Ram-headed Sphinxes, now separated by the present city of Luxor. This colossal construction is one of the greatest architectural achievements of antiquity. It is a vast complex that embodies the Works of many Pharaohs added over the centuries . Its awesome Hypostyle ?Hall has 134 richly inscribed and colored columns . It was the most important sanctuary in Ancient Egypt.

- Luxor Museum

A small but beautifully arranged exhibit, displaying in an impressive way a selection of some rare pieces that range from pre-historic to Mamluk periods.

- Valley of the Kings

it is the burial grounds of the great pharaohs of Thebes . It consists of hundreds of tombs where walls and ceilings are carved and painted with beautiful inscriptions , minute details and colourful  scenes depicting Ancient Egyptian religious life

- Valley of the Queens and Princes

Contains today more than 57 tombs , the most outstanding of which is the tomb of  Queen Nefertary.

- Tombs of the Nobles

Their marvelous wall drawing depict scenes of Ancient Egyptian daily life . The tombs are small in comparison to those of the Kings and Queens . However , some of them contain the most beautiful and best preserved paintings in the Necropolis.

- The Colossi of Memnon

Two gigantic status of the king Amenhotep II , which were once at the entrance of his temple complex that no longer exists.

- Medinat Habu Temple

This Morturary temple of Ramses II is second in size only to the great temple of Karnak.
