PORT SAID

Was founded in 1860 as a harbour on the Mediterranean coast at the northern entrance of the Suez Canal. The physical and socio-economic character of the city that determined its birth has persisted until the present day and its birth has persisted until the present day and is identified by:

1.   Its livelihood bound up with the canal and its operation

 

2.   A community whose purpose is serving the Canal and its ancillary activates

 

3.   The European atmosphere which charactreisedits society and its construction, and which is reflected by the conduct and way of living

 

4.   Its rigid city from and population increase unflavored by its shortage of land surface

The Sues Canal progress led to the prosperity of Port Said. And, by 1918 its population reached up to 450.000 habitants, during the decade of the twenty it became an international trade center due to the promotion of the world commerce, which the Sues Canal realized

Sightseeing Of Port Said

 - Port  Said National Museum

Housed in a gleaming new building, the Port Said National Museum runs the gamut of Egyptian history. Highlights of the well-displayed collection include two mummies, an exquisitely worked faience shroud and painted coffin, Ptolemaic funerary masks , Islamic tiles and mashrabiyas , Coptic textiles- especially  a tunic adorned with images of the Apostles , and the coach of khedive Ismail, used during the canal’s inauguration ceremonies.

Cool and uncrowded, the museum makes a pleasant retreat from the heat and hubbub around this part of the waterfront.

§        - The military Museum

The military museum leaves a strong sense of the canals embattled history. The 1956 Anglo-french-Lsraeli is commemorated by lurid painting and dioramas (notice the headless figures in scene of Nasser at al-Azahr) what another room is dedicated to the October war of 1973. This gives pride of place to the storming of the Bar-lev line, a heroic feat of arms ultimately wasted by the high command’s failure to.

§        - Abd Al Rahman Mosque & Roman Cathedral Fishing Places:

§       - Christian monuments:

1.   St. Eugenie Church- Ahmed Shawki St./ Founded in 1869.

2.   The Roman Cathedral 23 July st., Founded in 1931

3.   Marry Gorgeous Church-Mohamed Ali St. Founded in 1946.

§       - Port Fouad

Is one of Port Said suburbs located on the Eastern side of the Suez Canal being thus a part of Asia. It is a quiet residential Zone distinguished with its vast of green surface. It is also gifted with a sandy calm beach on the Mediterranean and has many sea sports clubs.

Suez City

Overlooks the Suez Gulf, 134 Km east of Cairo. It is noted for its dry climate and beautiful beaches scattered between Suez And Port Tawfik. It is considered both a winter and summer resort.

Tourist Sites

§       Kabreet

42 Km from Sues and is distinguished by it’s beach and soft sand, suitable for camping.

§        Moses Springs

On the east shore of the Suez Canal and is characterized by its natural springs and sandy beach.

§       Religious landmark

Sidi Ghareeb mosque, which dates from Fatimid Era and lies in Al-Ghareeb square.

ISMAILIA

The city of gardens and flowers. It lies midway between Port Said and Suez, 120 km from Cairo on the west Shore of Al-Temsah Lake. Ismailia is known for its beautiful landscape and plentiful orchards. Beaches spread on the largest lakes in Egypt where visitors enjoy sailing.

Tourist Sites

§       Fayed area

Known for its beautiful beaches, which extend for 50 km from Defresuar northward to Kabreet southward. There are many tourist villages, chalets and equipped clubs.

§  Al-Temsah Lake, El Morra Lakes, Mallaha Gardens 

And zone no.6 with its fascinating nature on a high hill overlooking the Suez Canal and Surrounded by gardens.

Places of interest

Museum of Ismailia 

It houses a collection of pharaonic, Roman, Greek, Coptic and Islamic monuments and lies in Salah Salem Street

Museum of De Lesseps

It houses De Lesseps library and his belongings and lies inside the Suez Canal rest house.

The Unknown Soldier Memorial

It was established to commemorate the victims of World War I.

The October, 73 Victory Memorial

It lies opposite to zone no.6 and is a tourist project

The Catholic Church
