Alexandria

The second largest city in Egypt which was founded by Alexander the Great in 332 B.C . Alexandria is a city rich in its Greco-Roman relics and monuments . Not only Christens left their marks  in Alexandria ,but also the Arab Civilization has made its imprints on the city.

A pleasure on its own merit , is to enjoy delicious seafood dishes served with a Ptolemic wine.

Main sightseeing Attractions

- Montazah Palace and Gardens

350 acres of park ,gardens and beaches at the easte4rn end of Alexandria. The palace was constructed in 1892 by king Farouk’s  great –grand father as a summer residence .

- Qaitbey Fort

This 15th century fort as the tip of the eastern harbor ,is the the site were one of the ancient seven  wonders once stood. The Pharaohs Light House. Inside the fort , a small naval museum houses models of ships and historic scenes.

- Greco-Roman Museum

This excellent museum contains over 40,000 pieces of artifacts dating from the 2nd and 3rd centuries B.C . It gives visitors a good idea of Alexandria’s grandeur in the Greek and Roman periods.

- Roman Amphitheatre

Built in the 1st century A.D . And  uncovered in the late  1950’s , is almost in perfect condition.

- Pompey’s Pillar

Erected  around 29 A.D , is the 84 foot (31 meters) high column made of Aswan rose granite and thought to be one of the 400 cloumns that once formed the portico of Alexandria’s famous library .

- The Catacombs

At Kom El-Shokafa are three tires of burial  chambers pre-dating the 2nd century B.C , and carved into the rock about 32 meters below the ground .

- Royal Jewelry Museum

An architectural delight which was formely the Fatima El-Zaharaa Palace. It now houses a magnificent collection of jewelry and rare gem-encrusted items once belonging to the family of Mohamed  Ali 

- Al amein

Approximately 65 miles from Alexandria is the famous battlefield , Alamein , the site between Rommel and Montgomery . Visits to British , German or Italian cemeteries can also be included in the tour.
